Pantheon Percussion: 14×9 Raw Brass “Tank-Snare” Complete
So today, I spent time building what I can only describe as a Tank of a snare: Custom 14×9 Raw Brass snare.
This snare was tricked out with 10-lug Die-cast hoops, offset black chrome tube lugs in alternating lengths, DW MG + 3P throw offs andbutt, 42-strand Canopus Backbeat wires, 2 Badges with brass screws, and 3 Air vents.
This snare sounds absolutely massive with a wide open sound and awesome projection WITH MUSICAL TONE. This might not be bell brass, but I say it’s pretty close, and at a fraction of the cost of a bell brass snare.
It’s so heavy that even I have difficulty lifting it with one hand; this is an injury waiting to happen if you don’t treat it with respect. Use two hands and don’t try to be hero; you will hurt yourself.
I expect to hear the howls of approval from the drummers that get to try this snare. Jut ask Dion. Stay tuned for more craaziness!
