“Myself with OSSUARY, opening band for VADER on 14th July 2014 @ The Substation.
Thanks to Pantheon Percussion 5B drumsticks & 14 x 6.5 acrylic snare.”
Beautiful bespoke custom drums, world-class cymbals.
The show featured Benny Green, Dezron Douglas, Andrew Lim as well as the brilliantly straight-shooting Soh Wen Ming.
The accolades and praises just kept pouring in for days after the show and it was certainly a heart-warming experience for Mr Soliano. He was showing them to me with joy: certainly we will see more performances from him in the months to come. Such fire in him now…🙂
The show was almost a ‘generational hand-off’ of sorts too. When Wen played alongside Mr Soliano, the both of them spoke the same tongue (musically speaking) with their sticks and brushes.
Our pioneers are quietly handing over the baton to the younger players slowly and surely, ushering in a new age of technical ability, innovation and creativity. We need legacy events with these giants for the younger generation of drummers to build their voices upon.
Many thanks to Singapore Drum Fest and Fest Events International for such a bonding and amazing event. Amazing work.
Please please please watch out for the upcoming events in the Singapore Drum Festival. We are in for a treat.
1. Singapore Drum Fest: Drum Off Singapore
2. Singapore Drum Fest: Ultimate Weekend
3. Singapore Drum Fest: Dennis Chambers Legacy Drum Camp
We would like to officially welcome maestro Louis Soliano to the Pantheon Percussion family! One of the longest-lasting and most accomplished musicians in the home-grown jazz scene, drummer and singer Mr Soliano is famous for his magical touch on the drums as well as his scatting.
Mr Soliano is a living legend: an institution unto himself. His musical journey reads like the history of the music scene in Singapore from the 1960’s to present. Mr Soliano has played alongside jazz greats like Buddy Rich, Matt Monro, Anita O’Day and Sarah Vaughn. Other celebrities he has played with include Lea Salonga, Roman Tam, Frances Yip and SK Poon.
In 2014, Mr Soliano was honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the inaugural Singapore International Jazz Festival. He was also conferred the title of Fellow of the London College of Music, among other accolades.
On July 27 at the the Resorts World Theater, Mr Soliano astounded everyone by hosting a concert. He performed with world-class players in the international jazz scene, including Benny Green on piano, Dezron Douglas on double bass and Andrew Lim on guitar, along with a special appearance by contemporary string quartet, Viva Strings, in the first set of Soliano’s concert.
Ever the consummate performer, he looks forward to many more performances, this time with the support of Pantheon Percussion. Classic tones, stunning looks: we make drums for the legends.
